Grind & Seal / Stained Concrete

This is the most economical floor coating that you can use. There are several different routes you can go here:

The first is with your standard grind and seal.  This is when you grind the floor and apply a clear sealer.  This is a great application for warehouses due to the fact it is an economical solution, very quick return to service and much more cleanable than a standard concrete floor.

Another solution is a pigmented sealer, this is a little more expensive because it usually takes several coats to achieve a uniform look.

The final solution is stained concrete, which once the floor is ground you apply a pigmented sealer to the floor followed by moping it to get random stained type of finish.  This is the followed by applying a sealer if you are looking for a more gloss finish.

Applications

These coatings are very durable due to their wetting properties. If you have a large area and need to use floor scrubbers that isn't a problem.  They are also much more sweepable than your typical concrete floor.  Mopping with water and soap is also a good way to keep these floors clean.

Some great places for grind and seal applications are vast warehouses and parking decks.  The pigmented sealers are a great choice for staircases, warehouses and more visible floors where customers are looking for an economical solution.  Stained concrete can be a great choice in showrooms and lobbies.
